Students and teachers create a school-based carbon trading system. Each class or school measures its carbon footprint, sets reduction targets, and trades carbon credits with others. The activity builds understanding of climate economics, mathematical reasoning, and social decision-making, supporting the NZC focus on Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics.
"School Carbon Exchange" turns the idea of Emissions Trading Scheme into a fun, practical challenge between classrooms or schools.
Students create a mini carbon market where they work together to reduce emissions and trade “carbon credits” through meaningful community action.
Before starting, we meet with teachers and school leaders to understand your school’s goals, capacity, and curriculum priorities. Together, we co-design a version of School Carbon Exchange that aligns with your students’ learning levels and local context.
